Student Leadership
At Warragul North PS we are very fortunate to create opportunities for Year 6 students to be a part of the Warragul North Primary School Student Leadership Team.
The student leaders at Warragul North Primary School Primary School lead by example, demonstrate, uphold and promote the LEARNING values. They show commitment to their roles by building their capacity to be outstanding leaders within our school community and strive to contribute to whole school improvement.
Our student leaders support and encourage all students and families in their connectedness to our school through leadership of events such as Senior Sports Day, Junior Sports Day, Junior School Council, Bullying No Way Day, Footy Colours Day, Warragul North Cup and our school assemblies.
Year 6 leaders are expected to support the students, leadership team and wider school community. Our student leaders work closely with our Principal Team, Learning Specialists, Leading Teachers, specialist teachers and PLC Leaders as well as our teaching staff.
At Warragul North Primary School, we strongly advocate for student leadership opportunities and for the value of student voice and agency, we therefore aim to provide many opportunities for formal and informal leadership positions for our students.

Peer Mediators
Our Peer Mediation program has operated since 2002. Peer Mediators are chosen because of their demonstrated ability to be responsible, show empathy and support others. Each year we train a small group of Year 6 children in conflict resolution skills which equip them to deal with minor issues in the playground. Their personal and social capabilities are developed throughout the year as they are coached to fulfil their duties and guided to give aid to fellow students. The peer mediators are easily discernible in the playground by their distinctive fluoro vests.
Junior School Council
The students of the Junior School Council can become involved as student leaders, to make decisions on behalf of our students at Warragul North PS. A Junior School Council member is elected at the beginning of each year from each 3-6 class to represent their peers.
